lillehei
My 9 yo ds is really into dragons. Any favorite books or series? He has read the Harry Potter series if that helps with reading level.
Tasia
How about Eragon and the rest of the Inheritance series? I'll ask my boys if there are any others.

egm
He may be too young, but my 11 year old just finished The Eragon books and loved them. I read them and found them to be a bit dark but no more than the HP books

krisperry
A couple of my son's favorites (for years): http://www.amazon.com/Ralph-Masiellos-Dragon-Drawing-Book/dp/1570915326/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1338258503&sr=8-8 http://www.amazon.com/Dragonology-Complete-Book-Dragons-Ologies/dp/0763623296/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1338258612&sr=1-
AngieW in Texas
Enchanted Forest Chronicles. The 1st and 3rd books have female main characters. The 2nd and 4th books have male main characters. All 4 books have dragons as a focus.
crazyforlatin
Edith Nesbit's The Book of Dragons Jane Yolen's Here There Be Dragons The Reluctant Dragon, which we love, may be easy for your child. A modern version, Kenny and the Dragon, by Tony DiTerlizzi! was fun to read and compare to the original. I don't think Eragon is more difficult to read than Harry Potter. Dd didn't have any trouble with the series. I like to give another thumbs up to Masiello's Dragon Drawing book - DD drew such beautiful dragons just following this book. I'm sure your son will be delighted with Dragonology.
lillehei
THank you all so much for all the suggestions. I found many of them online at the library and will pick them up today. It looks like some of these will be part of our permanent collection!
