mommatomany
I'm trying to decide which grammar curriculum to use for next year. We will be using HOD/Bigger and the recommended grammar is R&S but we used their Reading portion this year and it was so dreadfully boring. Can anyone compare the two? Likes? Dislikes? Which one is more teacher intensive? My dd will be in 3rd grade next fall. I've never used anything from Abeka so I have no experience at all with it. almondbutterandjelly
Rod and Staff Grammar is thorough but black and white, and my dd hated it. Abeka Language 3 has color, but my dd didn't do so well in it either. I suppose it's more interesting than R&S. If you want fun grammar, you might try The Sentence Family by St. Michael School. hsmom08
I've only used R & S with my daughter for reading and grammar. She is finishing her 3rd grade soon. It is definitely not teacher intensive. There are a few review questions that you can do orally before doing the workbook. Most days, I have to admit, I don't even do those with her. She reads the lessons and is able to do 95% of it without asking me for clarification. Grace
