Janis in DE
I will be doing Ancients again with my daughter who is in 6th. We will be using TOG and I have been reading some of her literature over the summer. I like to stay somewhat ahead of her. So far I have read and enjoyed, Golden Goblet, Hittite Warrior, Victory on the Wall, and Adara. I'm getting ready to start The Bronze Bow. eight_gregorys
I'm planning on using the exact same thing this year. Our children are about the same ages, too. I have a 5th grader, 1st grader, and 2 kindergarteners. I've preread the read aloud books (I have a very sensitive daughter.) and I think they are all great. We are substituting The Cat of Bubastes for Golden Goblet because my daughter has already read that. For your 6th grader Mara, Daughter of the Nile and the Royal Diaries: Cleopatra VII: Daughter of the Nile look like a another good read. I don't know if you were planning on using the activity guide for SOTW, but it really is great. It has review questions, projects, and literature suggestions. I love it. For hands-on, I also like the following books. Classical Kids by Laurie Carlson Ancient Egyptians and Their Neighbors by Marian Broida Ancient Israelites and Their Neighbors by Marian Broida Old Testament Days by Nancy Sanders What you may want to check out is the Tapestry of Grace website. I pulled a lot of the above books from their site. What I want is a less complicated TOG. So this is what I'm attempting by using Biblioplan and adding some of the hands-on aspects of TOG. Also for more resources check out Paula's Archives. She has a list of literature and DVD suggestions to supplement history. It's really great. http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/SOTWmenu.htm HTH, Andrea

Savermom
read the "You Wouldn't Want to" books that related just for fun. By boys (8 & 11) thought these were so funny. We read: You Wouldn't Want to be a Pyramid Builder You Wouldn't Want to be Tutankahmen You Wouldn't Want to be an Egyptian Mummy You Wouldn't Want to be an Assyrian Soldier You Wouldn't Want to be a Sumerian Slave You Wouldn't Want to be a Greek Athlete You Wouldn't Want to be a Slave in Ancient Greece You Wouldn't Want to be a Roman Gladiator I plan on continuing these books through time periods. They were a big hit!
Julie
Those look fun, I just checked them out on Amazon. How about the Famous Men series or the Culteral Atlas'? Do I need those if I am using STOW and MOH?
