AngieW in Texas
I am looking for a fantasy and science fiction literature course that is already laid out. I was thinking I'd have group discussions every 2 weeks and the rest would be done by each family on their own. I don't want to have to dig up which stories to read in what order. I want to find a syllabus somewhere that schedules everything out and that covers a full year or at least 24 weeks. My dd is already signed up for the coursera course, but that only lasts 10 weeks. Lori D.
Not that you are looking for an online class, but other than the Literary Lessons from the Lord of the Rings which only covers the 3 books of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, these are the sci-fi or fantasy literature programs I know of: The Potter School: Worlds of Imagination: Science Fiction Literature (1st Semester) -- gr. 10-12 Worlds of Imagination: Fantasy Literature (2nd Semester) -- gr. 10-12 Warmest regards, Lori D. Miselainia
My daughter highly recommends "Character and Plot" by Orson Scott Card in the Writing Science Fiction and Fantasy Series. I don't know about the other books in the series.
