unsinkable
Have you ever heard the phrase, "That's beast!" (To the best of my understanding, it means something is great in a tough, manly, aggressive kinda way :glare:) The boys use it around here and I am wondering if it is unique to here or if it is used across the U.S.
gardenschooler
I haven't heard it. I'm sure if I ask one of the dds, they'll crack up laughing and tell me they can't divulge the meaning. :glare:
unsinkable
Thanks, gardenschooler! I was curious if it was regional thing or just my boys or nationwide? But it looks like 100 people read this and no one took my poll. Unless I can't see the results? Oh well. ETA: I found the results. I'm a dork. Thanks, everyone! Jill- OK
Have you ever heard the phrase, "That's beast!" ...I think I might try to get it going in my area, lol! :D (Of course, a thirtysomething saying it is probably going to shut it down quick, lol. Like my hopes for reviving "Bip!" as a replacement for "Oh, Snap!")
Laurie4b
My kids use it all the time. Here is a primer from ds: "That's beast" means "That's cool", "That's awesome,"etc. (adj) If "You're a beast guitar player" that means you're a really skilled guitar player. (adj) "You're a beast." You're cool. (noun) You can "beast" something, like "You beasted that test." You aced the test (verb) "Beastly" same as "beast". There is a band called the Beastie Boys, but ds doesn't know if the terms are related.
Brindee
Like my hopes for reviving "Bip!" as a replacement for "Oh, Snap!")Oh snap........now THAT I've heard. my ds17 picked that up at his Christian school and says it a lot.
Danestress
Have you ever heard the phrase, "That's beast!" (To the best of my understanding, it means something is great in a tough, manly, aggressive kinda way :glare:) Kids here use it all the time. If it originally had a manly/aggressive sound to it, I think that must have been diluted, because here Grandma is "beast" if she makes awesome marshmallow brownies. I would say it's most often used, though, to describe victory or competence - as in "That new girl who beat Sharapova was BEAST today." Hannah C.
I am still a teenager, and I have never heard anyone say that. I'm in TX, if that makes a difference.
