Kirch
http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/kindergartener-charged-battery-why-criminalizing-kids-175600847.html Interesting article about the growing trend of calling in police to deal with serious discipline problems in schools at ever younger ages. On the one hand, I can see the argument that some people are making that it's overkill. They're kids (although I think police intervention in high schools is a different story). But on the other, I can completely see where so many schools have their hands tied. Parents taking responsibility for disciplining their kids and making sure they behave seems to be a thing of the past for so many people. If a principal calls home about a student's behavior, it seems like he is just as likely to have the parent yelling at *him* as the parent being upset with the child. Add in the fear of missing the chance to prevent the next big school violence event, and I can see where they might be quick to call in the cops. :(
