cajunrose
We are about to list our home for sale. My bathroom is clean but the bottom two rows of grout are stained dark grey. I have used mean green, bleach, comet/water paste, wire brushes, tooth brushes, etc. Nothing is getting it white!! Am I missing some wonderful cleaner that I have never heard of? HELP please!!! Thanks Stephenie
fairfarmhand
go to Home Depot or Lowes and get tile grout stripper. It is an acid that you apply, leave on for like 10 minutes and then scrub. It made HUGE difference in my grout lines. You will need to apply with gloves and reseal your grout, something that should be done every few years anyway. Sealing is easy, but time consuming. cajunrose
Will it just clean the grout or take it out all together?
Mergath
I actually blogged about how I clean the grout in my kitchen: http://www.enchantedwinterhomeschool.blogspot.com/2012/04/cleaning-grout-is-fun.html Yeah, I know. I probably have too much free time.
fairfarmhand
it will just clean it. If you want to remove the grout, you will be in for more work. But the stuff works amazingly! (from someone who stupidly chose pale gray grout when we built)
cajunrose
I will go look at my local hardware store to see if they have it!
Krista in LA
My dh mixes a paste of peroxide and baking soda to clean our grout and it does an amazing job. Granted, ours is an off-white, so I'm not sure if it will get your grout super white, but it's cheap and safe. In the past, I've used this on grout to make it look like new http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100133209/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=grout+stain&storeId=10051
LaxMom
Barkeeper's Friend (or Zud) and a toothbrush works wonders.
Kebo
Barkeeper's Friend (or Zud) and a toothbrush works wonders. :iagree: I used Barkeeper's Friend and a stiff scrub brush recently and was amazed at how well it worked!
cajunrose
Thanks guys! I went to my local hardware store (love that Place) and told them my delima. They set me up with that paint on a little roller thing. Seems like it'll work great! Whew...such a relief! Stephenie
