mom2jjka
My DH lost his job 2 months ago, and my original plan for science and history for my rising 9th grader (Exploration Education's Advanced Physical Science and Notgrass' Exploring World History - w/ literature) has been put on the back burner. I need to come up with a 'plan B' - and it needs to be pretty cheap because I have 3 other students to buy for. (We are Christians, so I would like materials that present info from a Biblical worldview.) Any suggestions? We do have the Biology 101 DVD's. I understand that those are not a full Biology credit, though. Maybe I could 'beef them up' with other books? Also - a thought I had for history - I wondered if I could maybe do Streams of Civilization and add appropriate literature? Thanks in advance for your help. Susan C.
I liked Streams of Civilization Vol.1 but not Vol. 2, different formats, different authors. I've always homeschooled for pretty cheap, it can be done! Sorry about your dh's job, we have BTDT, not fun. Both of my kids completed Apologia's Physical Science. Notgrass purchased by itself isn't that expensive, definitely spend more on your older students, its easier to go cheaper the younger they are. Definitely price shop, I like this site: rocksolidinc.com They have both Apologia and Notgrass at discounted prices. I really liked Spiegvogel's Human Odyssey for world history (you need to take at least two years to complete it, its 1100 pages), its secular, but then I could add our viewpoint for very interesting discusions. I got it used for about $10. I do have first editions of Apologia's General and Physical science that I will be selling for a deal since 2nd editions are out. PM me if you are interested.
