magnificent_baby
Just ordered a Cuisinart multiclad pro stainless steel cookware set. I am gradually replacing kitchen items for safety and health concerns, and thus replaced my previous set. According to the instructions, stainless steel utensils are fine but may scratch though not impair function. I am trying to avoid plastic or nylon utensils, unless someone convinces me they are safe healthwise :001_smile:. (It is becoming difficult on knowing when to draw the line on replacing potentially unsafe products) What utensils do you use on your stainless steel cookware? Looking for brand recommendations too. Mama_Rana
I use bamboo utensils mostly. I think I got mine at Ikea, but I've seen them in the grocery store. They are safe on the few "non-stick" items I own too, and on my cast-iron. They're great all around! I own one thin metal spatula for sliding under things that stick, and I think we have a plastic/nylon spatula for pancakes, but we use those rarely. catz
I use stainless steel and wood depending on what I'm doing. I haven't had issues with scratching. I have a set of All Clad stainless tools and they're great, but they were spendy.
Zoo Keeper
Well, I do use my wire whisk, my small metal spatula, my metal tongs, and my two wide wooden pusher things (kind of like one of these), and my three different wooden spoons on my stainless steel pans with no problems. MomsintheGarden
I use a variety of plastic and silicone utensils in my stainless steel cookware. These are my favorite: http://www.gourmac.com/mixingspoon12.html I order them in quantity because they occasionally break.
flobee76
I use wooden or bamboo with my S/S pots and pans. I own All-Clad and I don't like to see scratches. :D
AdventureMoms
My utensils are a mix. I don't love plastic, bamboo is ok, metal is good for spatulas, but for spoons my favorite is silicone. Silicone is very stable and I feel comfortable using it in cookware. ETA, my frying pans are cast iron, my saucepans are stainless steel. magnificent_baby
Thank you all for the responses! I have seen sets with mixed wooden, stainless and nylon. I think I will give that a try, that would be nice to have a mix of materials to try out.
