threeofakind
I am just wondering if anyone can highlight the big ideas of each philosophy and approach to teaching language arts in the elementary years- like a compare/ contrast or something. This has been my first year teaching and I have read some on each one but since there are so many experienced homeschoolers I thought I would ask your personal take on each approach...thanks for sharing- and they are: The Well Trained Mind Charlotte Mason Ruth Beechick Thanks!:001_smile:
threeofakind
Any thoughts? Like similarities or differences- I read TWTM awhile ago but don't remember everything and the other names I keep hearing about just curious...thanks!:001_smile:
lindsrae
Can't tell you about RB, but CM delays formal grammar instruction until the child is about 9. WTM recommends starting in first grade. CM and WTM both recommend copy work and narrations, although the style is a bit different. This is off the top of my head...and I'm not home to check my books, so I know there is much I am missing! Have you looked at the WTM website? They compare their methods to CM in a couple of articles.
