Rebecca VA
I've been loading up my Kindle Fire -- which I love, love, love and use all day long -- and am delighted to find many books that are available for free. Just this morning I downloaded Ayn Rand's book Anthem. Does Amazon have a page featuring free books? Just wondering -- I would love to see what they're offering! In The Great White North
If you click on"all Kindle books" and tell it to sort by price low to high, you should get several pages of free Kindle books. You can also do this in a category, say Children's.

d.g.
Not Amazon, but ereaderiq.com will allow you to search for free books, and you can sort by genre, rating, etc. There are a TON of new books added daily, mostly indie publishers, but occasionally you'll find a gem. I find a lot of kids' books that way, and even some things that work for school, like "flashcards" and ABC books. ETA: Oops, looks like I posted at the same time. Edited April 12, 2012 by d.g. meggie
http://www.latter-dayhomeschooling.com/2012/03/free-books-at-your-fingertips.html This blog post has a lot of good ideas
higginszoo
I like ereaderiq.com -- they have a pretty good of the newer free books in the Kindle store, and I get email updates every day with what they added. For older, classic, public domain books, there's a category in the Kindle store.
Tenaj
There also some blogs that list recommended free books: http://www.inspiredreads.com has Christian fiction and nonfiction choices. http://www.pixelofink.com is the same kind of thing for just fiction choices. I follow them both on fb and then I can see what's being offered each day and download the books I want.
Baseball mom
Also if you go to Amazon and play around with wording (free kindle books, free kindle downloads etc) you will get different lists. Also clicking on their wordings after typing in free kindle books. Sometimes on the left side of the page will allow you to click on type. pixelofink.com also has daily deals
mumto2
I just go into the book shopping section and scroll down to the top 100 free books. Generally popular stuff from the various web sites end up reflected in the top 100 purchases.
Murmer
library lady on facebook does listings of books most days via facebook (and now twitter I think). Ottakee
Here is the Amazon link that I use daily http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Kindle-Store/zgbs/digital-text The selections change hourly so some might only be on for 1-2 hours and others you might see for days. Sometimes I find several new books a day to download and other days I don't find anything but I have found plenty to keep me in books.
