provenance61
I heard someone at our co-op say they were doing Montessori math, and that it was great. Can anyone tell me what is Montessori math? We are planning to do FIAR with our kindergarten age daughter next year and are looking for a math curriculum. What makes the Montessori math special, and where do I find this curriculum? Is this similar to Cuisinaire rods? Amy
Chris in VA
Well, there's a mass-produced curriculum that incorporates many Monti ideas and sort of incorporates the materials, called Shiller Math. It irks me, personally, because the materials are plastic el cheapo carp--tho they get the job done.
5 Hikers
I have this: http://www.brilliantmindsmontessoristore.com/pages/Math I loved that all the materials came with it, and I like the lessons.
ssavings
I like this website for an explanation of some of the Montessori math work. It's for beginning math, ages 3-6.
