NotSoObvious
I was in SUCH a funk last week, and have been on and off for a while. Well, this week I doubled my Vitamin D supplement to 2000 whatevers instead of 1000, and I feel so much better! It's also been very sunny and warm. Does Vitamin D really have that much influence on your mood, or is it just a coincidence or more weather related? Does Vitamin D make YOU happy? Lily_Grace
Well, I know that being out in the sun makes me happy. I get terribly moody between January and February because the sky is overcast for so long. Come spring and it's like a whole new me.
zookeeper
Yes, it really does! Thanks for the reminder to be more diligent with taking it. I need it lately!!
gardenmom5
I have a friend whose daughter has a rare disorder and must take mega doses of vit d. - for her it is an enormous difference in how she feels, but exposure to consistent sunshine is more effective. different forms of vit d can vary in how they are absorbed. D suppliment, but from all I've read about it, I wouldn't be surprised. I know I feel better after I've worked outside in the garden or yard. What kind of suppliment do you have? AK_Mom4
Definitely for me! Also for DS16....but we live in the Land of Darkness and just don't get enough sunshine in the winter. Taking D3 has made a big difference in how awake and alert we feel in the winter time.
Leanna Tomlinson
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/01/30/vitamin-d-boosts-fertility_n_1241871.html Watch out! It can also increase your fertility. ;)
melissad2
Oh yes it is!!!! I started taking vit. D3 after ds2 was born because I felt so bad and within days I felt like a new woman!
freesia
It makes a tremendous difference for me. So much so both my best friend and my dh ask if I've been taking it when I feel down.
LAS in LA
There's an interesting article in the NYT this week (the "Well" column) about Vit. D and the multitude of positive effects associated with it. We were meant to live outside, it seems!
BatmansWife
My vitamin D was super, super low (I am sure it still is). My doctor gave me an Rx for vitamin D. The problem I have is that I can only take the Rx once a week.....and I usually forget. I guess I haven't been consistent enough long enough to notice any difference yet. LadyMSews
I live in the gloomy Pacific Northwest and there is no way I could get enough VitD from the sun, plus we don't drink much milk, and so we all take it. We've been taking it for a couple of years. I take 2000iu daily all year long. The kids take liquid drops just in the winter...they spend most of the day outside in the summer. :) Since we starting taking it, we have rarely been sick at all...and I have more energy and just generally feel better. Unless we move to the southern US (little chance of that, lol!), I plan to take it the rest of my life.
NotSoObvious
Wow! Awesome! Thanks so much! And boosting my fertility would be a BIG plus, since we've tried for so long (DDs are adopted). I'm just using the Nature Made brand.
