Right brained phonics?

Recommended Posts

I have used Dianne Craft's books. I think she has a great program. The lists in her phonics book helped my children w/fluency and spelling. Her sight word cards are great. You can do the same thing on your own but I like that someone else did it for me. We did find reading the word lists over and over a bit boring after a few months but it does work. Unfortunately that is sometimes the way right brained kids learn, lots of repetition.

I have 2 right brained kids and teaching phonics was hard. I used Spell to WRite and REad for the oldest and she is doing well now with that. The youngest we are working with now. Right now I am just working with stories to connect with her on the sounds and it is working. Stories seem to be helpful to connect and I also found it worked on multiplication facts for the oldest.
