hsmom2011
How important is diagramming? We are doing Hake Grammar, and dd likes it, but gets very anxious over diagramming. She is PDD, and diagramming a sentence is enough to cause her to meltdown - Is there a soild Grammar curriculum that does not use diagramming? KAM
I don't know about a program that doesn't have it, but we quit grammar altogether when the diagramming showed up. I figure if they need to learn it, they can do when they are older. I see no reason why a 3rd grader (mine) needs to start diagramming! SunnyDays
How old is your daughter? We're using Michael Clay Thompson Grammar Island, which is the level for 3rd-4th graders. MCT uses four-level analysis instead of diagramming, which means you break down parts of speech, parts of the sentence, phrases and clauses.
