melissad2
I have some various scrap gold that I would like to sell. It would have to be sold as scrap as most of it is broken or missing stones etc. I'm not to sure about selling by mail as I haven't heard good things about them. Should I take it to a jewelry store or one of those "we buy gold" places?
Rjmakmom
I have done this, but have taken it to a reputable jewelry store. I don't trust the mail away ones.
momofsbandeg
You can take it to several places and then trade with the option with the highest price. Don't know about mail options.
Tap
Never do the mail places! I would take it to a real jeweler. You may want to call around first and find out what price they are paying and what they will take.
Cindyg
Take it to 3 or 4 places. Offers vary. You'll know what to do.
stripe
I'd take it to a reputable jeweler. The price of gold is no secret. You can find it out and calculate for whatever k you have, so 14 k is 14/24 of the price, not the price for pure gold, it will give you a sense of its value on e market. I almost sold some to a jewelry store that I've bought from, but have been too lazy. Lucky for me the price keeps rising. My in laws have been doing this for years, often to trade in when something is broken or for a change, I guess, but they normally buy gold jewelry based on its weight, whereas I don't think that's so common outside ethnic jewelry stores in the US. jennsmile
Pawn shops also buy gold.
