Do you keep reading about educational methods

Recommended Posts

...when you're doing high school?

I feel happy with where we're at and where we are headed. However, I keep seeing this books on educational methodology/philosophy/trends recommended. They look great, but I don't feel compelled to read them. Should I?

Most of my focus is going into individual subject content and guidance counseling knowledge (gah!). I did read Climbing Parnassus a few years ago and read WTM and LCC on a regular basis.

So am I missing anything by not reading them? I feel comfortable with what we're doing, I just don't want to be complacent about these last few years.

No, I do not read any books about education. I have figured out my kids' learning style, know what works for them and us and what fits our goals and have a pretty good idea how we will progress.

I keep reading about materials and curriculum even though I really should not; I have a plan for how to proceed and what materials to use for the remaining two years.

There is always more out there. I am not particularly interested in educational philosophies or styles (and most definitely not "trends"), so I'd rather read books about something else.

Thank you, that makes me feel better.
