Tess in the Burbs
So we bought a deep freezer about a year ago. It died this weekend. My receipt was dated 3/9/11. So I call today, the 12th, and they say I am past the warranty(1 year in home service). I point out that had I been able to call on Friday I would have had warranty. They refused to honor it. They offered free parts once I get a service person to determine the problem. I have to fax in that service repairman's invoice asking for parts and then they will send them to me. Honestly, it's more of a pain in the butt than any real help! SOOOO, I highly advise you not to buy from Magic Chef. This freezer was sold at Home Depot. And it worked great for literally 1 year and 1 day :tongue_smilie: However, they will not be gracious if your freezer dies on a weekend a day past your warranty. And that is bad customer service IMHO! :glare:
Chelle in MO
That's a bummer! Target is the same way about their 90 day return policy--no grace. I guess they have to draw the line somewhere, though. It just stinks to be *that close* when an issue comes up.
astrid
I'd fight. Did you speak to a manager at Magic Chef? I"d keep going higher because THAT is flipping RIDICULOUS. I'd be madder than a wet hen. Sorry your freezer died! astrid
plansrme
Was it delivered on the 11th? If it was delivered a day or so later, some warranties start with the date it is in your home, rather than the purchase date, especially if the store delivered it. 4everHis
Huge difference IMHO when it's a major appliance that should last years. We're not talking a pair of jeans here. No appliance should die in a year. I would let them know I'm going to let all my friends on FB know about their lack of service. =) Edited March 12, 2012 by connib

I was able to express my dissatisfaction with a manager and get it fixed. It lasted 16 more years after that.
