Fiddler
DD (10) is wanting a grammar workbook or program that she can do by herself. I'm looking at Spectrum and Evan-Moor but other ideas are welcome. She's completed most of FLL level 4, and isn't appreciative of MCTLA's playfulness with words, plus she wants to be able just to "get it done." TIA! Homemama2
Abeka can be used independently (IF your child will actually READ the directions....which mine apparently can NOT do ...:glare: :D)
hsmom2011
We use Hake for 5th, and dd is doing it independently.

Growing with Grammar is independent and has worked well for us. We've used 5th and 6th.
Fiddler
We use Hake for 5th, and dd is doing it independently. Is this called Saxon Grammar now?
hsmom2011
Is this called Saxon Grammar now? Yes, it's the same as Saxon. :)
Fiddler
Thanks! I'll take a look at GWG and Saxon. I should have added that I'm looking for a secular program--so I think that means Abeka is out.
Shellers
I recommend Growing With Grammar.
foxbridgeacademy
:iagree: GWG very "get it done", also Spectrum Grammar workbooks about $10 new on Amazon.
In2why
We love Growing with Grammar. Both my 3rd and 7th grader use it independently, and it is a solid progression.
Sugar Fly
Another vote for GWG. It is secular and it "gets done" :001_smile:
PookieMama
We like Easy Grammar here. Crossing out prepositional phrases first really helps my ds. But there is no diagramming, so if you want to teach that skill you would have to supplement. We weren't thrilled w/ GWG, but everyone is different. :)
Haiku
Hake 5 is independent and rigorous. Tara
jetted4
I really like Jr Analytical Grammar by Robin Finley...been a few years since I used it, but I think it could be used self directed.
