mom2koh
It's that time of year. :D Curriculum shopping for next year. I ran across Great Science Adventures and was wondering about it. Have any of you used it? Please give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some background: My background is science so I want a sound program. Also, we are very hands on with our learning. The "projects" are kind of what drew me to the program. But, I don't want it all to be just cutting and pasting. I want learning to happen! Labs and such. My kids will be in 1st and 4th next year. :bigear:
mumto2
We did the plants book. Dd really enjoyed the cutting and pasting part. There is also some very complicated folding. My DS was perhaps too young for it. He did not like it at all. Overall I thought it was a good program. Good basic summary given in the weekly book which neededto be assembled. Lots of experiments and extension activities. It had litature add on reading which we enjoyed. We also used library books with this. Sorry my discription isn't as clear as I would like it to be. I no longer have the book so I can't reference it. Anyway dd and I did enjoy it and we learned a lot. I have fond memories of her showing off all of her books and projects to her grandparents. DS did learn -- he just didn't have as many projects to show for it.
