emmaluv+2more
I purchased a used Adventures TM that has the student sheets included in the back. For those of you who are experienced with Adv, I was hoping you could help me determine whether or not I still need to purchase the student sheets pack from MFW. I do know that the tm doesn't include the state sheets and cards. What exactly are those and what information do they cover? Do you know if anything else is missing from this particular tm edition that is now included in the student sheets pack? I have already been given some great suggestions from the seller regarding state bird/flower resources; will I need to substitute further if I choose not to purchase the student sheets pack? Having never used Adv, I just want to be sure I am covering all of the bases and have any necessary supplies. Thanks!
joyfulhomeschooler
We used the state sheests and cards and the copies from the tm for our adventures year. It worked fine. Didn't need the student sheets at all.
Ruthie in MS
We are currently using Adventures. I have the newest edition TM which DO NOT have any student sheets, state cards or anything. I bought this set of notebooking pages http://www.currclick.com/product_info.php?products_id=30950 instead of the student pages from MFW. They also don't have the state pages but I use these pages instead. They're free and they really are useful. http://www.squidoo.com/50statesnotebook I have also found these to be useful http://www.currclick.com/product_info.php?products_id=14974&it=1 You can find almost anything for free/cheap on the internet. I wouldn't buy the student pages, but that's up to you and how much extra work you want to put into planning and preparing.
monalisa
I think I have the same older TM you have. I purchased the student sheets with state sheets, state flag stickers, bird cards. The state sheets are a two sided sheet for each state that has a lot of text about the history of the state, facts, etc on one side which is meant to be read; the other side has a mini map showing the state on the US map, an outline of the state itself with a star for the capital, a picture of the state bird to color, and a picture of the state flower to color. The bird cards show a colored drawing of the state bird and state flower. MFW did add some pages to what is in the old ADV manual (I can't remember what they were, but I've come across a few as we've gone along). Also, I think they added a couple timeline pieces. For me, buying the pack of student sheets was well worth the $20 or whatever it was. If I don't have everything done for me and ready to go, it just doesn't happen (I always MEAN to print things out ahead...never seems to get done). I bought the same set of notebooking pages (but I think I paid more, darnit!) in addition to the student pages. I like the copywork sheets for the Bible verses and some of the narration sheets are nicer.
