klmama
I ordered something on ebay and paid with Paypal. I've given more than a reasonable amount of time to account for postal delays, and it still hasn't arrived. The seller isn't communicating with me. So, if an item doesn't arrive and the seller won't willingly give a refund, is it better to request help from ebay Buyer Protection or from Paypal? Catwoman
So, if an item doesn't arrive and the seller won't willingly give a refund, is it better to request help from ebay Buyer Protection or from Paypal? It's the same thing -- when you file a complaint on eBay, it will automatically do the PayPal thing for you. And don't waste time -- take care of it immediately, so you can get the refund you deserve, and so eBay will be aware of a potentially dishonest seller. Mrs Mungo
Did it ship media mail? I have had media mail items take up to 6 weeks to arrive.
Mommyof4ks
I would go ahead and file, because you only have 45 days from the transaction date to file a claim. Claims often make sellers magically communicate too.
Riverland
I had this happen once. At first, the seller communicated with me that he had been in a car accident and couldn't get to the post office. Then he stopped responding altogether. I filed a complaint through paypal. Seller didn't respond to their inquiries either, so I was refunded the full amount (around $100).
Tap
If it is after the time that Ebay makes you wait and still within the claim window, file a claim with Ebay. If the package arrives and you still want it, you can send payment again or ask them if they want to return it (at the sellers cost). I had this happen once at Christmas when I ordered a present from the UK. They had horrible weather and after a month it still hadn't arrived. I felt bad, but I filed the claim the day before the deadline. The package finally arrived 2months after it was supposed to arrive. I was very happy I had filed the claim later because it had a postmark of a date well after they told me they shipped it (and given me a confimation number)! Even without the storm, it never would have arrived in time. I had ordered it 8 weeks before the holiday, so I really felt that they were liable as a company (especially since the lied to me). It would have cost more to ship the package back than it cost to buy, so I just kept it. Edited February 23, 2012 by Tap, tap, tap
