ThisIsTheDay
Well, I'm glad it's a holiday and not that the company has just shut down completely!! I hope you both enjoy his day off!
milovany
I have no idea if I'm working today or not, LOL. I had a university class scheduled at 5am this morning that didn't come through for some reason (I know there was school, as the professor had said there would be). I have a high school class in about an hour and I don't know if they'll be there or not. I have another one about an hour after that one ends, and I know they'll be there (well, the assignment just came through anyway -- so I'm assuming they're having class today). And I have a fourth assignment this afternoon that I haven't heard about. They don't always tell me if class is canceled because of holidays or not, so I still have to show up (on Skype). Was that why your husband's place of employment was not open? (The holiday?)

milovany
Yes, the holiday. I would be shocked if your school was open today! Oh, some are! The class I was just subbed in for is a high school. We'll see what happens; it could be that the other transcriber just called in sick, but that class may still not happen. The 5am class this morning was "on" I know, though, even though I didn't connect with the student when it came down to it; it's a private university, I think. And I know my husband is still planning on doing homeschool this a.m. Do you open your homeschool "doors" on a federal holiday?

Had i known dh would be home, i would have planned accordingly. I was sick on Friday so I took the day off. We only have spelling, science reading, and history reading left, so we should be done by 11:00 today IF we stay focused. IF is a HUGE word.;)
QuirkyKapers
:) What a nice surprise! A good motivator for the kids to get their school done so they can spend time with dad.

Chelle in MO
Oh, your poor dh--having to make that drive for nothing! But a nice surprise, anyway! My dh's work gave them today as one of their paid holidays. We're still doing some school, though, much to the dc's chagrin! (And there's no GRIN to it!) Ds16 has his community college class this morning, and dh has some car work to do, so we might as well get some work done. We'll be glad we did when summer comes. Well, I'll be glad. The kids will have no realization of how great my plans work out!

Allearia
The kids here are out for a whole week! I think my two figured that out but too bad, no holiday for us. Dh has work, and we have a bit of stuff to catch up on. Maybe I'll let them play Presidents vs. Aliens on my iPad for 30 minutes in honor of President's Day. swellmomma
I am working today but I am ticked, not because I am working that is fine, but because they made me get up so dang early for nothing. I have only 1 daycare kid today. He was supposed to be here at 6am, I was up at 5 am to make sure i was ready for him. He showed up at 1030am. Given that they almost left without ringing the bell at 1030 (they didn't knock either, they walked up and waited for us to open the door but didn't announce they had arrived with a knock or ring, the kids happened to see them through the window). They better not have done that this am. I was up but was hanging out on my computer waiting for them to arrive. So tired today. Hoping it is a normal pick up time for him this afternoon. Due to 1 child having 2 bedwetting accidents last night and 1 having a nightmare, I am beat, I only got like 2 hours of sleep. I am ticked that I could have gotten another 3 or 4 hours of sleep if I knew they were not going to be here at 6am.
Jean in Newcastle
Dd took a message for dh saying that he has a doctor's appointment today. She neglected to get the name of the doctor or the time of the appointment.:glare: Dh has been calling all his doctors - so far none of the offices are open today! Annie G
Yes, the holiday. I would be shocked if your school was open today! I live in Illinois- the kids' college was closed last Monday for Lincoln's birthday but open today. Go figure!
vonfirmath
Yes, the holiday. I would be shocked if your school was open today! Texas State University is open president's day. Texas A&M is not.
milovany
Update: All four of my classes met today. Two were public high schools, the other two colleges (one private and one I don't know).
