cathmom
I had to buy a new box of dry milk today. We use it in some recipes and sometimes I cook with it instead of using regular milk. The box was $18.39. I normally buy milk at $3.49 a gallon. Dry milk costs 20 cents a gallon more than whole milk! Guess I won't feel guilty about using the regular milk to cook with anymore... mom2abcd
I noticed that in our area, powdered milk became more expensive than fresh a couple of years ago. It does make life easier. (I, too, would use powdered for recipes like banana bread or something where taste wasn't an issue-- just to save money.) Too bad salaries don't go up at the same rate prices do! Where are you buying milk? Our local Publix has milk (non-organic, mind you) for $6.49!!!

A gallon of whole milk (non-organic) has recently dropped here to under $4 (we have state minimums).
cathmom
I buy milk at Trader Joe's usually. The $3.49 was the price on a receipt that was in my purse, but when I went on Monday, I noticed the milk was now $3.59. :tongue_smilie: Still cheaper than the dry, though.
