Oak Knoll Mom
My son's 10th birthday is coming up and I would like to take a special snack to his CC class. I love this idea. Can y'all think of substitute food items, though? I'm not against the treat being sweet, but Twinkies and doughnuts seem a little over the top. (One little boy in his class is very allergic to peanuts, but his mom is great about helping us come up with alternatives for him or bringing a substitute treat herself.) angela in ohio
I can't believe she took twinkies and donuts in for children to eat. Those poor teachers. And how did the kiddos learn anything when they had a giant sugar crash? :glare: What about a half of a pretzel stick and an apple? A cheese stick and a dried apricot? myfunnybunch
Cinnamon bagel and a bread stick? You could add a packet of cream cheese. Cat
happi duck
Does each item need to be individually wrapped? what about a cheese stick and a round Little Debbie snack? a mix of pretzel sticks and pretzel rings? (won't sit in a perfect '10' inside the bag but is still a '10' snack) Can it be homemade? You could do sugar cookies, still sweet but not processed/greasy. btw, it's a nice idea to have the treat wrapped because the teacher can opt to send the treat home
Oak Knoll Mom
We don't really have any rules as far as food goes except to make sure our peanut allergic child and his siblings don't eat anything without their mom approving.
