Ellie
You know, you takes the old bag out and tosses it, then puts the new one in. No muss, no fuss. Works for me. :)
bbkaren
My bagless ones always wound up clogging up and I had to take the bottom panel off and clean out the hose with a coat hanger.
BatmansWife
I thought bagless was going to be great. I.hate.it! That darn vacuum is the biggest pain in the bee-hind to clean out. I have to do it outside and try to empty everything into a large plastic garbage bag. I still get dust and junk all over me and it's inevitable that I end up breathing some of it. I wish I could get a new vacuum...and if I could I would definitely go back to bags. Just take 'em out, toss 'em and put another one in. PeacefulChaos
I've read that bagged are MUCH better for allergies/asthma and such. Plus, less mess!
Stacia
Central vac! :001_smile:
Carpe
Central vac! :001_smile: I think the question still applies though. Growing up my family had a very old central vac that used bags, but the new one does not. Actually now that I'm thinking about it, I have not seen nor heard of bagged ones since then... I wonder if they still exist. Despite allergies I prefer bagless. I just empty it outside.
wy_kid_wrangler04
No other. A vacuum either has a bag or not.:D well, you COULD make a really long hose attached to the suction and stick it out the window if you really wanted too

I had a couple different brands of bagged vacuums before getting my Dyson, and changing the bags was always such a hassle and mess and had to be done outside. I love the Dyson because I can just take off the canister and go dump it in the big garbage can and be done with it. No trying to get the new bag attached properly or keeping a supply of bags on hand. Maybe the brand of bagless vacuum makes a difference? Tap
I prefer my bagged vacuum at home (there is a bagless at the cabin). But....my bagged vacuum is a very expensive one and I have had it for about 15 years. The bags take about 15 seconds to change and have a little flap to close it when you take it off. They are very easy to change and make zero mess. You just pop one off and then push another one on. A bag lasts me about 2 months, but we have an air filter on our house and no pets. The bagless came from Bi-mart and was under $100. It was the only store that sold vacuums close to the cabin when we needed one. I bought bagless for the cabin, with the thinking that I wouldn't have to remember to buy bags for up there. It was a mistake. They are different qualities of machines, so it probably isn't very fair of me to compare them. I hate cleaning out the bagless vacuum. The filters get clogged and I have to wash it all the time. If I don't clean them, the vacuum stops sucking up the debris on the floor. The canister only seems to catch the largest debris and the rest is pushed out through the filter. My bagged vacuum has extra filters that I wash/replace every year or so. One is foam the other is a very fine paper/cotton looking material. This filter will turn black, but does not have debris on it. It filters material that is very, very fine. Guest
I would have said bagless before, but I'm getting tired of mine. They lose suction power and are messy. We have had to replace them every few years (and they aren't cheap). I think I'm going to go for a bagged one this time. So, I'll vote bagged. swellmomma
I love my bagless. I clean the filters every couple weeks, have never lost suction and no more emptting and reusing the bags. I don't always have enough money to buy vacuum bags so with my old vacuum I would empty the bags, duct tap and holes and reuse them. My bagged vacuum would lose suction all the tiem as soon as the bag got 1/2 full it would start to lose suction, if the bag had a tear in it etc. Having a bagless eliminated a lot of hassle for me. TheReader
Bagged. But ours is a reusable bag. Empty the contents into the trash, put the bag back in the vacuum. Best of both worlds, IMO.
KidsHappen
I would prefer a bagged vacuum because I think it would do a better job of getting rid of the dirt and dust. However, I don't think it would be practical. I have to empty the canister for every room I vacuum and sometimes twice in a single room. There is no way I could afford that many bags and if it was using less, it would mean it is not vacuuming up as much stuff.
Haiku
You forgot hanging your rugs out and beating them with that wand thingy. :tongue_smilie: Tara
Virg
I prefer bagless because of how often we vacuum. I used to have to constantly buy bags and they aren't that cheap.
abbeyej
It depends on the vacuum, not its bag-state. :) Hated my bagless Eureka. Love my Dyson. It's easy to clean, no mess, works great.
OH_Homeschooler
Our bagged one was fine until I couldn't find replacement bags anywhere. I've been bagless ever since. I like seeing how much stuff it picks up, which I never saw with the bagged vacuum.
Quill
I have a Dyson (bagless) and I would never buy a vac with bags again. I also use a Roomba, which is also bagless. I never have any issue with emptying either one. The Dyson just has a lever that drops open the holding compartment from the bottom and all the waste just dumps right in a bag. Very simple. athena1277
I like my bagless. It's easy to empty. No bags to buy. No bags to search for for hours when you need a new one. :glare:
Photo Ninja
Central vacuum system - bagless, and super easy to handle. Unattach the holder, empty it into the trash, attach it again. Simple.
beezus
I thought I'd like the bagless. At first it was cool to see what I was actually sucking up off our floors. I spent a lot of time taking it apart and unclogging it though. It was much more of a pain than I anticipated. Maybe I just bought a lousy bagless model, but I have a bagged vacuum now and like it much better.
DawnM
I voted bagless, but I have a central vac at my house......now THAT is da bomb! When we moved in I thought "Eh, it is ok, but I am sure it isn't that great." Wrong, wrong, wrong! I love it and don't want to move to a house without it. It dusts, cleans hardwoods, and vacuums. QuirkyKapers
I like bagged better but I have a bagless right now.
In the Rain
We just switched from bagless back to bagged. Dh thought he'd prefer bagless because there wouldn't be the ongoing expense of bags. It turns out that emptying the canister is really hard on people with dust allergies. :001_huh: One plus for the bagless system is that it is easy for dds to identify which small toy was sucked up, and decide if it is worth retrieving. :D
Venia
Bagless. That way I can empty it after every use. We have always had issues with our bagged vacuums smelling musty after a few uses from the dirt/dust/crubs/etc sitting in the bag.
