thesmileofGod
children's dictionary? I'm looking for one for my third and fourth grade daughters. I was hoping to find one that has nice size print as one dd has a hard time with too many words on a page or words too close together. Thanks, Gina Current read alouds: Uncle Wiggly's Storybook, Farmer Boy, John Audubon young naturalist
Chrysalis Academy
We have the DK Merriam-Webster Children's Dictionary. I think it's great for elementary students. It is readable, the font is good, there is enough space on the page that you can keep your place, and there are high-quality photographs. It isn't cartoonish at all. And, it has had all of Michael Clay Thomas's "classic words" that we've tried to look up so far, so that's a good thing! The definitions are complete without being overwhelming, and there is a sentence or phrase showing how the word is used after many, not all, of the words. It doesn't include word derivations, though. luvnlattes
We have The American Heritage Children's Dictionary and have been pleased with it. You can view it here at Amazon and look inside to get a feel for how much information is on each page.
