Chava_Raizel
I was planning on getting AAH to use with my twins who will be in the 5th grade next school year. We've never done American history, so I started to consider having my dd use AAH as well--she'll be in the 8th grade next year. Since we'd do Vol 1 this coming year and Vol 2 the following, she'd be in the 9th grade for the second half. Is this a suitable course for high school? I see in the samples that they give a reading list for 9th grade and up, so I could use that to beef it up a bit for her. The alternative to using AAH for 2 years is to finish up World History with SL core 7 for 8th grade and then do core 100 for 9th grade. I like the idea of using AAH mainly because I'd be able to combine all 3 older kids and it's LOTS cheaper than a SL core. But is it academic enough to use for high school? Thanks! Trish
It's definitely dry enough for high school. Might want to add sauce!
arstephia
It is definitely good for 8th grade and up. I personally think there are a lot of better books to read for history at the 5th grade level. Save the AAH for an upper level and enjoy some of the great books now.
