Medieval Mom
Help! I'm planning out our 4th grade, and realizing we can't possible DO all the lovely things we'd LIKE to do next year. I'm sure you can relate. It looks like I'll have to make a decision between: Christian Light's Reading 4 and Classical Composition by Selby. Which would you choose? Does CC cover literary analysis at some point? HELP!! :willy_nilly: P.S. We'll also be using Rod and Staff English, FWIW. 3andme
I think you might be comparing apples and oranges here. I haven't used Classical Composition but I believe it's basically a writing program. We do use CLE Reading. It is a reading program that covers reading comprehension, analysis and literary terms. It doesn't have a writing component to it. CLE Language Arts does cover some writing but many people choose to supplement because it's a bit light. I believe Rod & Staff English already has a solid writing component so I would probably say go with CLE Reading if you want a textbook reading program. We've really liked it. Apples and Oranges! It's just that I only have ROOM for ONE fruit on my plate. ;) Which is more important? (We've been using the CLE Reading since 1st (so 1st - 3rd). Ds likes it, so that's not a problem. I'm just not sure whether I can keep it AND add Classical Comp. (We just can't keep adding on to our day.) Bloggermom
My daughter is going into 4th and we decided on CLE Reading with First Language Lessons 4 and Writing With Ease 3.
Medieval Mom
Thank you for all the responses so far! I see that this poll is 5-CLE, 4-Classical Comp. Would anyone that recommends Classical Comp. tell me whether it includes literary analysis?
