elise1mds
HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYONE!! It's a gray, damp day here in NE OK, so if you have any sunshine, think of me today. I'm thrilled to get the precipitation, but I'm terribly affected by the weather. I may plug in DD's light box later for my own sanity. What's for breakfast/lunch today? The kids had Pop-Tarts for breakfast (I know, bad mommy) because I was dragging. Lunch will probably be whatever DS and I grab on our way out the door. Got anything good planned for the weekend? I know some of you have busy weekends planned. I'll be helping at DD's school for the majority of the day tomorrow. It's Trivia Night. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? I'm in the middle of Ivanhoe. I've never read it, and I am really enjoying it. I thought it would be dry and boring, but now I want to know if there's a good movie version of it out there. scrapbookbuzz
Good morning, Sarah . . . and everyone else! :) We have sunshine here in Phoenix. This is the best time of year for us, weather-wise. I see nothing wrong with PopTarts. Give them some milk to go with them, and a little fruit later on, and they'll be fine! Breakfast here was left over pizza from my board meeting last night. I had a little piece this morning but am not feeling great - been hot AND cold, at the same time, all last night and this morning. Sent my youngest off to co-op with a friend and am letting my oldest (13yo dd with Aspergers) sleep in. Plans for the weekend: son has a baseball game tomorrow. I wanted to meet with some people tomorrow but the way I'm feeling today, I'm not going to schedule anything. DD has her Young Writers group tomorrow afternoon. God willing, I'll be healthy again by Sunday, because my favorite local used book bookstore is hosting their monthly Scrabble gathering, which I really enjoy. Best book/movie read/seen recently: movie: Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (for action adventure); a few months ago, dh and I saw Anonymous (a conspiracy theory about William Shakespeare) - gets my vote for not being like every other movie! book: NOT the Hunger Games. Read it; it's depressing. I do NOT understand why it's so popular. For adult reading, I just finished Loving the Norseman by Kris Tualla. If you like books by Nora Roberts, you will most likely really enjoy Kris Tualla.
TheReader
Happy Friday indeed! DH gets home today from a 9 day business trip and I am beyond ready!!! Breakfast was cereal, lunch was ramen noodles for one, sandwiches for the others. Actually, the ramen noodle kid had a sandwich for breakfast....weird children. I am too antsy to eat, though nibbling on random stuff. Did I mention my DH gets home today after 9 days away???? Plans for the weekend.....staying home. 'Nuff said. Probably some swimming in there and bike rides with the kids and, well, yea...staying home, happy my husband will be home..... Best book lately....I'm reading Anne of Green Gables (well, on to Anne of Avonlea actually) for the first time. I really like it!! Before this.....not sure. I read a lot and really hate the challenge of naming best book as there are so many I enjoy.....not a huge movie person and lately just been Pirates of the Carribean and Sponge Bob marathons at my house. The Girls' Mom
What's for breakfast/lunch today? I had a PB&J Sandwich for breakfast, and will probably head to Costco for lunch. Our kitchen is packed up, so there are slim pickings here. Got anything good planned for the weekend? Tomorrow I head out at 4AM to make a 15+ hour drive to TN, where I will promptly turn into a popsicle. (I've been spoiled by the mild winters...it's going to be 13 degrees when we arrive :glare:) What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? I just finished Galore by Michael Crummey. It was different but pretty good. Had an interesting twist. :)
Baseball mom
Gray cold damp day here. I will be staying in as much as possible. ;) What's for breakfast/lunch today? Breakfast -- coffee for me, sweet tea for the kiddos -- seeing a theme here. We haven't eaten breakfast all week. Bad mama I know but we haven't wanted anything. Lunch and Supper --- not a clue Got anything good planned for the weekend? Ds has a basketball game tomorrow but other than that nothing :D What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? Currently reading "The Help". Need to get moving this morning. I have had coffee and talked on the phone for well over an hour. Catching up with my stepmom, enjoyed the conversation.
frugalmama
What's for breakfast/lunch today? Breakfast for me was oatmeal, no idea what DD wants yet. Lunch will be snacks. Got anything good planned for the weekend? Resting, grocery shopping, and that's it. We take it easy on the weekends. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? I haven't found any good books lately, mostly I've just been reading fanfiction online. I've found a few good ones of that though.
Jean in Newcastle
Good morning Everyone! Sarah - inquiring minds want to know how Zumba went! What's for breakfast/lunch today? Breakfast will be a sprouted grain English muffin, 2 eggs and jam. Lunch will be some variation of a salad with protein unless I rebel and have a bean and cheese burrito. Got anything good planned for the weekend? Rest and hopefully catching up on some things. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? The last movie I saw was the 2nd Sherlock Holmes movie. I thought it was fun. We're also enjoying having a "Psych"-athon on NetFlix.
luvnlattes
It's damp and gray here in Western WA today too. But we're not going to let it stop us from getting out for a nature walk this afternoon. What's for breakfast/lunch today? Cereal for all. Lunch is a big ? at this point. Got anything good planned for the weekend? I don't know about good. Youngest has a sleepover at church tonight and one of the activities is a scavenger hunt type thing. I'll be driving all over the place with 5 11 & 12 yo boys for 2-3 hours!!! What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? We saw Mission Impossible with the boys on New Year's Eve which was a good action movie. My best read so far this year would be Circle of Lies by Douglas Alan. Baseball mom
Kiddos are on the mend. The house is very loud today! :001_huh: Is is just us or do others have weird lunches? Dss wanted mashed potatoes for lunch. That is all, just mashed potatoes. I made the instant kind with a little butter, garlic salt and sour cream. They acted like it was the best lunch ever.
elise1mds
Scrap, I hope you feel better soon! TheReader, I love Anne of Green Gables. I remember getting the books when I turned 12 and just reading them to death. I can't wait until DD gets old enough to read her books. Enjoy having your DH back! Apryl, good luck on your move. That book sounds really interesting, too. Jean, Zumba didn't go, actually. The class was at the YMCA, which was hosting a Dave Ramsey seminar last night, so all the child care slots were full. My friend (who has the membership and whose guest I would have been) is a single mom of twin boys, so without anywhere to take them, we had to postpone. We're going to try again next Thursday. Thanks for asking!
mom31257
What's for breakfast/lunch today? We ate egg salad on toast for breakfast. Dh made it last night so I could sleep in today because it's my birthday. Got anything good planned for the weekend? We're probably going out to dinner with friends. Ds has a basketball game tomorrow morning, and it's against the only team they have a chance of winning against. Let's hope! They've not won a single game. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? I finally watched True Grit not long ago and really liked it.
Dobela
HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYONE!! It's a gray, damp day here in NE OK, so if you have any sunshine, think of me today. Same here in central AR. Ugh. The drizzle I find most annoying. I like the extremes - either drenching rain or sunshine What's for breakfast/lunch today? The kids had donuts their dad bought them last night while I was making all sorts of phone calls and taking care of other business. I was just happy they were leaving me alone and not arguing. Got anything good planned for the weekend?Wow. Ours is giong to be busy. Saturday am ds has bowling league, promptly followed by his trap shooting team practice 30 minutes in the other direction. That evening dh and dd are going to a father daughter banquet. Sunday is church, then before dawn Monday morning dd has an appointment for another MRI about an hour away. That is if the sleet and snow being predicted stays away. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? The best movie hands down has been A Smile As Big as the Moon on the Hallmark channel. It came on last Saturday night and I recorded it. My son has watched it at least 4 times since. It is about a special ed teacher in the late 80s who wanted to take his students to Space Camp but was told by every one that he shouldn't. His perseverence, and the hard work of the kids, is just so motivating and wonderful. Based on a true story.
Karen in CO
What's for breakfast/lunch today? Good morning. I had Greek yogurt with flax and berries. Everyone else had gf pancakes for breakfast. Lunch will be pb&apples for me and bbq ribs for everyone else. Dinner is tacos.. Got anything good planned for the weekend? This weekend youngest has dance class, we're going to try to go to the nature and science museum, and hubby and I are going to try to find somewhere to go on a date. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? I wouldn't highly recommend anything I've read in the past couple of weeks, but this year so far I've loved Alone by Richard Byrd and P&P. Sherlock Holmes was a fun movie.
MamaAkins
What's for breakfast/lunch today? The kids had waffles. I snagged a few girl scout cookies on the way out the door to take dd14 to co-op! Lunch was jasmine rice with leftover pork from last night's dinner. I'm not sure what we're doing for dinner tonight. DD14 will be eating with a group of friends at her Bible study. DS and dh have a pre-Pinewood Derby weigh in for Scouts and will likely pick something up on the way there as they may be short on time. Got anything good planned for the weekend? Yup...dd14 has a dance rehearsal tomorrow from 10-1. The rest of the kids have Pinewood Derby (they have an open division for siblings, so my girls can participate too). DS is selling concessions for part of the time, so we'll likely be at the church for most of the day. DD14 is helping with a parent's night out babysitting event at her dance studio. They are doing it as a fundraiser for a trip they're taking this fall to dance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I have plans with friends for dinner tomorrow night and then will head to the dance studio to help dd14. DS has a birthday party at his best friend's house. It's supposed to be a sleepover, but he's coming home around 11pm because we have big plans on Sunday and want him to get some rest beforehand! Sunday we are heading to Concord, NC to go to the Great Wolf Lodge. The kids are so excited! The trip was a Christmas gift for the family from my dad! We'll be home late Monday night. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? My free time for reading and watching movies has been pretty limited lately. I did read "Joy for Beginners" and "School of Essential Ingredients" recently. They are both by the same author. Light, easy reading. I enjoyed "Joy for Beginners" much more than the "School of Essential Ingredients."
Aurelia
What's for breakfast/lunch today? Breakfast was fruit and sunflower seeds. Lunch was less healthy. Got anything good planned for the weekend? Sunday I'm supposed to take Ariel to see a professional ballet company rehearse and learn a little about their shows, etc., for Girl Scouts. Saturday we're doing nothing. I don't even want to leave the house. What's the best book/movie you've read/seen lately? I actually like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, the movie. I had only just started reading the book when I saw it, but I liked it because it wasn't the traditional action film and was a bit more "thinky." Favorite recent book has actually been Thimble Summer. I bought it to go with our US history curriculum and wanted to pre-read it to make sure it covered the material I wanted. It didn't, but I enjoyed reading it. :D
