terrih
My dd's have done Abeka for 1st and 2nd grade and are doing well, but I am sort of looking at maybe doing CLE for 3rd grade for a little less teacher involvement and more independence for them. Is it a thorough program? I checked the website but they only show a couple pages of the books, so I thought I would ask here what you all thought:) Do they do speed drills? (My girls love them.) Thanks!
Mom28kds
Yes, CLE has speed drills. I used ABEKA with my older kids then took some time off of HSing. Now I'm back and heard about CLE and decided to try it this year. I have to say I love it. I had a frustrating moment this year and decided to switch back to ABEKA for my 1st grader and regretted it because my son was learning better with the CLE. So a few wasted dollars later I rebought CLE and I'm not turning back. Abeka is a good program but I think CLE is easier to do and for my son who is doing level 4 this year he can do it all by himself and just asks me when he doesn't understand something. Both programs are spiral.
Amy in KS
I've done both and like cle much better! It's very thorough and very independent. I just am at the table while my kids work through cle for the occassional question.
Bloggermom
CLE is probably the most independent workbook based curriculum out there.
terrih
Thank you all so much for your feedback! I think we will go with the CLE for next year. One of the perks of homeschooling is we can change it if it doesn't work! :)
