myfatherslily
Registration is now open for Great Homeschool Conventions in Hartford, CT! http://www.northeasthomeschoolconvention.com/ Who is planning to go? I live 1000 miles away, but it's just THAT GOOD! Okay, but really ;) my parents live in CT, so I thought it would be better to combine the convention and a visit. Otherwise I'd be driving to Greenville or Memphis, PLUS driving to CT. I had a fabulous time in Greenville last year! :D
jplain
Do you recall approximately how far before the conference they published the speaker schedule last year? There are only a handful of speakers I want to see, so I'm not sure yet whether I'll go.
myfatherslily
Hmmm. A month before, maybe? I don't expect we'll see the schedule for awhile, but I really can't remember when it was.
astrid
Is this primarily a Christian thing, or will there be secular materials/speakers? I've never been to one, but we're secular homeschoolers and I would not attend if it was mostly religious in nature. Thanks for any insight... astrid
astrid
Nevermind. Found the philosophy page. Looks pretty conservative Christian to me. astrid
jplain
Yeah, it is conservative Christian...but there are a small handful of speakers that interest me anyway: SWB MCT Zaccaro Pudewa Jim Weiss (as a speaker or as a performer, either would be fine with me!) Sonya Shafer (maybe, depends on topic)
lulubelle
Thanks - I've been waiting for this to open. I just looked the other day. Is SWB going to be there for sure? If she is, my husband will be going with me!
A.Balaban
Yes- SWB WILL be there. it is on her speaker schedule. I am most interested in what she will be speaking about. My parents also live in CT, and we will combine a visit with them... but I am really hesitant to book it until I know the speaker schedule. myfatherslily
Nevermind. Found the philosophy page. Looks pretty conservative Christian to me. astrid Yes, it is, but there are a number of speakers who confine their talks to the subject of education :) However, as someone who is a Christian, it's easy for me to say that it's not over-the-top, cause I don't notice it much! I'm sure there are others who attended the conventions last year who can give you more specifics.
