Danestress
I just have to share - if you don't know this already. If you make your oatmeal a little on the thick side, you can stir a beaten egg into it with a bit of milk and the heat of the oatmeal cooks the egg. It's very yummy, makes a nice, creamy oatmeal, and adds some protein. Yum. I had that for both breakfast and lunch today, lol.

I make my oatmeal with milk and an egg. 2 cups of milk, whisk in an egg, add some honey and vanilla and when it's heated up enough, a cup of oatmeal. Tastes like custard. :):)
Tigger
My sister used to do that for her kids - they wouldn't eat eggs, so she made the oatmeal with them and they never knew!
romeacademy
Thanks - I'll have to suggest this to dd. She is always so hungry by lunch time. This sounds like it would hold her over better than regular oatmeal.
Hen
oh, I'll have to try this! I like to soak my oats overnight in warm water-plain yogurt, then in the morning add two eggs, a bit of baking powder a bit of lemon juice, some shredded apple- I like to boil all of this a few minutes (but you don't have to) and then I make oat-cakes on the griddle with them. I usually add blueberries, too. They take forever on the griddle, though, fair-warning, but so worth it!
Shellers
I've never heard of adding an egg to oatmeal. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing!

I love it. 3 cups oatmeal 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup butter 2 eggs 2 cups milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt Preparation: Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix all ingredients together (I soften the butter and then mix it in with the dry ingredients by hand before mixing in the wet ingredients) and pour into 13 x 9 inch buttered pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. I add fresh blueberries after it is cooked.
