Janie Grace
My ds10 is bright and gets through his schoolwork quickly -- Saxon math, Daily Language Review, Writing Tales, Science, History. We were doing literature with a Blackbird guide but that has slowed b/c we were trying to do discussions with a group and it has been hard to schedule. He really needs more to do on his own (I cannot spend more one-on-one time with him than I already am). He was looking on the back cover of DLR and saw the Daily Geography/Science/etc. reviews and said he's like to get some of those. Are they worthwhile? I have always been really anti-workbook, but this boy seems to enjoy them! What else would you have a child like this do? He probably needs to be reading more literature (he gravitates towards non-fiction for his "free" reading time). I don't want to waste his desire to work harder. I realize it may not last forever! Would love to hear what you think is important during this time.

Kim in SouthGa
Perplexors Reasoning and Reading What about spelling and vocabulary? Also, you could have him start a language. Our library website has free programs (online). There are some gentle Latin and Greek programs that he might be able to do independently. My dd did Lively Latin almost completely independently at 11.
