BMW
As in "early"... as in cycle is due now but hasn't begun... (not me) (lol) (sure, that sounds suspicious, but it's not possible for me). Thanks!!! (I'm looking for "reliable", btw... lol)
Stages
Dollar store. Believe it or not, they are among the most sensitive tests, and they're only a dollar.
MeaganS
I second dollar store. Or if you know in advance, these from Amazon. Super cheap and work as well as the expensive ones! And, you can always do a few to check that the first was accurate, because they are so cheap!
butterflymommy
I used the super sensitive ones from http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/ Really really cheap and I got an accurate faint positive at something crazy like 8 dpo. I also used their OPKs. I think they're the cheapest around. They also sell instead cups and preseed. For about $30 total I predicted ovulation and conceived the 4 month old sitting on my lap. :D We used preseed/ instead cups on the first try after my miscarriage. Sorry if this was TMI. Oops, duplicate account :/
First Response and there's a coupon on teir site. I've used it several times before my missed period and got positive results, even when do ok lar tree tests were negative. You can find FR at most drug stored and I dn't thinkit's expensive at all. Honestly though, if sd he's already missed a cycle I would just get a dollar tree test. http://www.firstresponse.com/early-pregnancy-test.asp -6 days before missed period will give an accurate result
wapiti
Another vote for the Dollar Store tests. I also bought from someplace online, saveontests.com, I think - the tiny strips for dipping, usually in a 50-pack ;). If I had a strong suspicion, I'd buy several different brands and do about three at a time (I was an addict). First Response and Clearblue should be ok. I think these days, quality among the major brands is more even than it was in the "old days" lol. I've had inconsistent results with EPT, the one major brand for which I had an incident with a defective test stick, but that wouldn't stop me from buying them again either. I'm not sure how updated this site is, but it appears to still be operating: http://www.peeonastick.com/hpts.html

Karen in CO
I'd always buy at least two different kinds. Just in case.
