mom31257
A friend's dd had shots sometime recently (will call to find out the date in the AM) because she posted on FB that she had a sore throat tonight and felt bad. She said wasn't sure if it was because of the Chicken Pox and Hepatitis shots she had received. I'm supposed to go to this friend's house tomorrow with my kids. Ds has never had the chicken pox or the vaccine. Dd was fully immunized before Kindergarten, but she hasn't had any kind of boosters. Should I take them there if this is a reaction to her shots? Is she possibly contagious with those diseases? I don't want to deliberately expose my son to chicken pox. I know people will wonder why we have some shots and not all. The reason we stopped vaccinating is because of a situation in my family. My nephew started having seizures after a vaccine that they were later able to find out (by lot number) had 2 deaths and 10 permanent disabilities. We've since found out he has a genetic condition that is triggered by trauma to the body. The doctors believe the bad vaccination triggered his disease, which is degenerative. If the seizures don't take is life, the disease will.
SonshineLearner
Well, my kids got chx pox from a vaccinated child, once removed. I feel 100% sure of it. I'm extremely happy that they had it... as I have ethical/moral issues with the chx pox vaccine. BUT, if I absolutely didn't want my child to get chx pox, I wouldn't visit. (But, I'd think about that, as you want them to get it before puberty, and it's a bit hard to get...)

Dh is taking ds to the new Legoland in FL next weekend, so I really don't want to chance it right now. KWIM? If she's still got the sore throat in the morning, I might not go anyway because it could be something else.
plain jane
I wouldn't suspect a sore throat to be a reaction to the vaccine. Possibly something picked up while at the clinic getting the vaccine ;) but not the vaccine itself. If you don't want to get sick, I'd stay home tomorrow. :)

3blessingz
We don't vaccinate at all. I have a wonderful friend whose son is on the last days of his battle with a horrible disease triggered by his 5 year vaccinations. Read the Vaccine Handbook by Sears -- it has ingredients for all the vaccines and choices as to which manufacturer has the safest ones, if that is the route you choose. Having said all of that, you probably don't want my advice because I would be thrilled at the opportunity for my kids to catch chicken pox naturally and I would be all over that. :-) :-) - Kristin
Ali in OR
I would assume her symptoms are the beginning of a typical winter cold/virus and would stay home for that reason. Just doesn't sound vaccine related or chicken pox related at all.
SonshineLearner
Yup, If you're leaving in a week... stay away ;) Have another friend get it and "hold" it for you :) That would be horrible to have sickness happen... :(
sweetbasil
The varicella vax is live -- weakened, yes, but live. If you absolutely don't want to expose your child then I'd stay home and not risk it.
