k2bdeutmeyer
Ideally, I'd like a tabletop night light that plugs in. DD likes the night light to be where she can see it (which, for her has to be on her bookshelf), but I don't want to deal with batteries. Does such a thing even exist? k2bdeutmeyer
Could you get a small table-top lamp and put in a very low-watt bulb? Maybe? She already has a lamp on her bookshelf, but it has to have a higher watt bulb, because it is the only light for the entire room.
itsheresomewhere
Pottery Barn kids. DD has one that is a low light lamp ( I think that is what they call it). It sits on her shelf and gives off the same light as a night light. It wasn't expensive either, like 20ish. Also, Amazon has quite a few of them. *********
Sure. We used to have one for my stepkids; it had this fan insert thingy, that once the lightbulb heated up, the hot air would cause it to rotate, and project stars on the walls and ceiling. Wow, that was an awkward description. :tongue_smilie: Let me see if I can find a link...
kalanamak
We use a WestClock Big Ben Moonbean clock (amazon has them) in sea green, but the pink one looks good, too. It doubles as a very sweet, rising chime and night light all at once.
faith_hope_love
If you're anywhere near an Ikea, they have some cute little tabletop night lights: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=SP%C3%96KA
SunD
Some digital alarm clocks have backlit faces that are brighter than some night lights. Our Sound Oasis machine is like that, but it's expensive if you just want it for the light. There are also ones that project a light or an image on the ceiling. My mom just gave the girls one that projects a castle and a princess, and I believe she found it at Target. Would being able to see the picture work? Sigh. The one you linked looks like it needs a battery, but I actually LOVE this one: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00097950/ .....but again....no Ikea here. *********
Aha. Here's an example from Cabela's. I'm pretty sure the one we had came from Linens N Things, but we got it, oh, probably 10 years ago, so I've no idea if they still carry them. In The Great White North
We had a gradual, sunset/sunrise, night light/alarm clock thingie that came with little scented rocks that really stunk. Don't really recommend it. However, this is cool: http://www.amazon.com/WBM-8-Inch-Himalayan-Natural-Crystal/dp/B001892AX2/ref=pd_sim_hpc_59 or a lava lamp http://www.amazon.com/Lava-Lite-5225-16-3-Inch-Silver/dp/B001MWSVP6/ref=sr_1_3?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1328067315&sr=1-
k2bdeutmeyer
Okay....THIS is AMAZING! http://www.amazon.com/American-Innovative-Teach-Talking-Nightlight/dp/B003D7KV0Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1328068859&sr=8-3 Too bad I don't have $80 (one for DD and one for DS), lol. DS could REALLY use the "green means go" feature. He gets up WAY too early.
Pamela H in Texas
My boys have a tot clock. I got it refurbished from their website so it was a bit cheaper. Lots of great features. http://Www.mytotclock.com Another suggestion on some thread was twinkle lights as they don't cast a shadow. KungFuPanda
We have this one from Ikea: It has a cord and changes colors. ETA: Sorry. I posted before noticing you don't have an Ikea. My daughter had this alarm clock. The lemon slice is a nightlight. SOOO cute. WAIT! I think I found something! http://www.dinodirect.com/led-night-light-color-changing-pvc-cartoon-christmas-gift.html Edited February 1, 2012 by KungFuPanda
AK_Mom4
DD10 has a nightlight that projects a giant picture of the Earth on her ceiling and turns itself off in the morning. It just plugs into an outlet. I bought it at the grocery store in the light bulb section.
Irene Lynn
If you want something simple, we use a light sensitive electric candle. It adds some nice light and turns itself off in the daytime.
helena
How about a lithophane night light: http://www.amazon.com/Mermaid-Delamare-Lithophane-Victorian-Antique/dp/B000LG67M8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1328072816&sr=8-
TheTwinsMom1
We found a table lamp that takes a normal night light bulb at walmart. It's perfect and sits on a table. It's similar to this one on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Dragonfly-Night-Ibis-Orchid-design/dp/B001TJHAFY/ref=sr_1_7?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1328073012&sr=1-7 However, we opted for a smaller bulb just a 4w one instead of the 15w one. Dolphin
Could you get a small table-top lamp and put in a very low-watt bulb? I know you said she already has a lamp, but if you are going to have it on the bookshelf, and want it plugged in, this is a good option. Someone got this one for dd almost 2 years ago. The skirt lights up. We have a really low watt small bulb in it.
YaelAldrich
There's a thing called a Shabbos lamp which is pretty cool. k2bdeutmeyer
http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Princess-Frog-Lamp-Small/dp/B0040UMKYA/ref=pd_sim_hi_3 Might work. :) oooh!! She would LOVE that!! We found a table lamp that takes a normal night light bulb at walmart. It's perfect and sits on a table. It's similar to this one on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Dragonfly-Night-Ibis-Orchid-design/dp/B001TJHAFY/ref=sr_1_7?s=lamps-light&ie=UTF8&qid=1328073012&sr=1-7 However' date=' we opted for a smaller bulb just a 4w one instead of the 15w one.[/quote'] Yeah, the thing is, she already has a table lamp on the shelf, and it has to keep a full wattage bulb in it, because it serves as the only light for the room. I don't really want 2 full table lamps on the bookshelf.
Tranquility7
We got a projectable nightlight for DS from Bed, Bath, and Beyond at Christmas. It sounds like what PP also mentioned - plugs into the wall and projects a 3' image on the ceiling. We got the solar system, but they also have a princess castle, aquarium, and maybe others too. http://www.amazon.com/LED-Projectables-11298-Fairy-Princess/dp/B003NB0Y1I/ref=pd_cp_hi_3 On that Amazon page there is a customer pic of the ceiling image there that is very dark - in reality the image is brighter than that (at least it is for us). *********
We have this one from Ikea: It has a cord and changes colors. Awww! Me wanty! :D Man, the Ikea in my 'area' is still like an hour away. Poo. That's one cute lamp. ETA: Ikea's website says this lamp runs on a rechargable battery, and that it comes with the charger. That's confusing; the pic shows a cord. Can you help me out here, KungFu Panda? I'm confused... Oh, nevermind. I read one of the Ebay listings; it can be run on the battery OR plugged in. KungFuPanda
We just leave the plug in, so it's always charged, but if the power goes out, we have that light. The cool thing is you can let it change colors, or stop it on the color you want :-)
