hollyh
We don't know if we are having a boy or girl and we don't have names for either! Please help! I'm not too fond of common/popular names (particularly for girls, boys are harder), but will take what I can find that I like! LOL. ... My kids names are Sienna, Cambria & Chase. I kind of like the idea of having a name starting with S, but am totally not committed to that. I also like destination/location names. We also would really like good, religious meanings if we can. Boy: middle name will be Howard after my dad. Right now Benjamin is at the top of the list, however, it is so common and I'm not as fond of Ben as a nickname, although I know that is what I would call him. Girl: middle name will probably be something like Faith or Hope (my girls are already Grace & Joy). Right now Shiloh is at the top of my list. Sidney at the top of dh's. Thank you!! tomandlorih
For a boy, we have a Seth and if this one had been a boy we would have named him Silas. For a girl, this one will be Lydia Joyce (but that doesn't start with an S! =) What about Shirah? Hebrew meaning my song. Sharon? Sable? And it doesn't start with s but I've always loved Esther's Hebrew name Hadassah. Good luck
tomandlorih
And this site doesn't give name meanings but it does give popularity.. http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/ We used it for ideas and to make sure the names we chose weren't in the top 50=D You can see trends over time too .. if a name is rising or sinking in popularity. Parrothead
Sabine for a girl? What about Savanah or Seneca? Stacy? Slivia? How about Sawyer for a boy? I really like Sawyer. Or maybe Seth. Oh, I how about Slater? Spaulding? Stanton sounds kind of formal but could be good. Steele? Stirling? Skye could work for either, but I would lean toward for a girl. All of the above are names of cities. Here is a list of city names that begin with S

Susan hasn't been popular for a while, but just this year a babe in our church nursery has the middle name of Susan. fourcatmom
Sydney is popular on this board. I have one too! :001_smile: Shelby is my oldest and if I had a 3rd if would have been Skyler or Skylar (Skye) for short As it is I get so tongue twisted with just two S names, it's probably a good thing I didn't have three I usually end up calling my Sydney, "SHYDNEY" which doesn't sound that great. I like Grayson and Rylan for boys and Shane (if you really want the S) Edited January 29, 2012 by fourcatmom
Osmosis Mom
Stella Hope is gorgeous. I used to want that name, Stella. Instead our homeschool is called Stellar Cluster Academy because Stellar Cluster is the meaning of our surname from Arabic.
