caedmyn
My 6 YO is reading some of the easier chapter books like the American Girl books, Magic Tree House, Sarah Plain & Tall, etc. I'd like to find some "quality" books (or preferably a series) that I can check out from the library for her to read. Any suggestions?
MarieWith3
My 7 dd with probably around the same reading level has enjoyed: The Lighthouse Series (Rylant) Despereaux My Father's Dragon Ramona books (though I got tired of some of the behavior) Babe, The Golden Goose, lots of books by Dick King-Smith Henry Huggins
ladydusk
Boxcar Children is a hit here. Cynthia Rylant's Lighthouse Series and the Cobble Street Cousins
crazyforlatin
I can think of more, but right now, DD who is an advanced reader and also of the same age discovered Freddy Books. I can't believe I haven't encountered these books until this week since I try to visit as many libraries in the city to look for quality books that don't have teeny, tiny words. acurtis75
Dd6 likes a lot of the series mentioned already but I'll add Hank the Cowdog. There are quite silly but the vocabulary is relatively good and there are a lot of books in the series. The author has been at several conferences i've attended and since discovering them dd has read 20 or more in the series.
Rivka
A to Z Mysteries Secrets of Droon (fantasy series)
twoxcell
Check out the level 2 and 3 book lists from Heart of Dakota for some ideas. My ds has enjoyed all of the ones he has read so far. Also I find the Sonlight reading list helpful sometimes too. You'd probably want to look at the 3rd and 4th grade lists there.
beaners
We really like the Burgess animal books (Lightfoot the Deer, Bobby Raccoon, etc). I believe they are around that level but I can't find a grade level or lexile for them.
