Dolphin
Hi, This was on our local homeschool board this morning and I thought I would pass it on for anyone else who was interested. Dear Homeschooling Parent, I am collecting information about the reason parents choose to homeschool and its relation to curriculum choice and teaching style. Parents who home school their children will be surveyed to describe their curriculum choice and teaching style in homeschooling their child(ren). If you are a director or coordinator of a homeschooling program or network, I request that you please take a moment to forward this information about our study to your fellow educators and urge them to consider participating in this study. Parents and homeschool educators who are interested in participation in this study are asked to use the following link to obtain additional information about the study and to access the study survey: https://uiowa.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5sU5V0d0swIQv9q All parents and educators will be asked to read additional information about the study before completing the survey. Sincerely, Kirstin D. foxbridgeacademy
I answered the poll yesterday (also from a local group email)... amazing how quickly this kind of thing gets around. Poor student is going to have so much data it will take her forever to sort through;).
elegantlion
Took the survey, great setup, nice questions. They seem to have an understanding of homeschooling.
Parrothead
I took the survey. I find it interesting that even after 40 years homeschooling is still studied like bugs under a microscope.
Jean in Newcastle
Took survey. Not enough spaces for all the subjects we study! And no place to put down my dd's school speech therapy.

Not really. Ed students have research as part of their requirements. Lots gets examined over and over, not just homeschooling.
Miss Marple
Took the survey - glad to help someone at my alma mater.
dirty ethel rackham
Took survey. Not enough space for curriculum and seemed to assume purchased curriculum or textbook approach and only one child. I didn't bother with reading or phonics because I don't do those subjects any more. (Dd reads at a high school level and we study the books we read rather than do a subject called "reading.)
Momof3littles
I participated as well. Thank you.

Heidi @ Mt Hope
Took the survey, great setup, nice questions. They seem to have an understanding of homeschooling. :iagree: I don't know if we technically qualify as homeschoolers, since my kids are registered with a public school distance learning program, but it hasn't changed our educational experience at all. I still choose philosophy, method, curricula, and routine, and I do all the teaching at home. But I answered all the questions anyway. :)
Meriwether
:iagree: I thought it was a better than usual survey. :iagree: I'd be interested to read a summary of her research as opposed to the opinion piece linked in the other thread. Sebastian (a lady)
Fun. It would have been good if there had been a set of curriculum fields for each student. I also noticed that she asked about learning disabilities, but not really about giftedness. That was something that kept us steadily homeschooling through upper elementary and early middle school.
