Magazine subscriptions -- your favorites for children

My daughter loves all the Cobblestone/Cricket magazines - there are so many wonderful selections for a variety of ages. And even nicer - if you order one and want to change to another, you can do that just by letting them know (aka you order Dig but decide you want to try Cobblestone - just let them know and they'll switch it for you).

Kids Discover is an excellent science magazine which targets a new topic for each copy.

Family Fun - this is put out by Disney and has lots of ads, but my daughter loves it. There are always fun crafts, recipes, etc.

Martha Stewart - funny enough, she started thumbing through this recently (we got it free because of air miles). She likes all the craft and recipe ideas. I guess you never know what they might enjoy :) I guess she'd love anything with crafts or recipes.

We still do Highlights, but we really like Cricket as well. I really should cancel the Highlights and just reverse the order of the huge pile we already have, though!

We were given a gift subscription to National Geographic KIDS, and even though it was a gift, we cancelled it. It was loud, crowded, and barely contained portions of text with more than 3 sentences strung together. It hurt my eyes to look at it!

My Ker loves National Geographic for Little Kids. I guess the pp has a point - they are loud and crowded, BUT he adores them anyhow. We sit down and read it page by page, cover to cover the day we receive it. He's kept all the animal cards (like hockey cards, w/animal pictures and facts). He's memorizes the facts of every additional 6 animals each time they come. He can locate them by continent on our world map. His "reward" (his choice) is to go over the cards after getting all his chores done.
