annabanana1992
We have been using the Voyage level of MCT this year (minus Essay Voyage) and WWS. All are going well. I pulled Essay Voyage off the shelf last night and would really like to begin using it with WWS. I think both are complete programs and neither require supplementing - I just really like them both and want to use them. So that means we are writing in WWS, EV, SOTW, Elemental Science and MCT Literature. I personally can't keep up with overseeing that much writing, and I notice that the writing my kids do for ES and SOTW is subpar. I was thinking about abandoning the writing portions of ES and SOTW and focus on writing in EV, WWS and MCT literature - sort of a quality over quantity approach. I always am concerned about some unseen inherent danger when I abandon parts of a curriculum. Can you help me think through this? Thanks! missmoe
I think your plan is sound. The writing in all those programs have a lot of overlap. You will kill yourself and your child's appreciation of writing, if you try to fit it all in.

Woodland Mist Academy
Did you decide what to do? I'm trying to use WWS and MCT Voyage Level. I'm hoping you have a great plan you'd like to share. ;) :001_smile:
annabanana1992
No great plan, unfortunately! But this is the week that I need to figure it all out because we just finished CE II Friday, and are almost done the Practice Voyage too.... Woodland Mist Academy
At least you will be finished with those. We still have about 7 weeks left. I'm trying to work it all in.
Lisa in the UP of MI
I think you have a good plan to focus on the writing in MCT and WWS. Just make sure to discuss out loud the things that your student would normally be writing in the other curricula. If nothing else, you could write down the things that you discuss. 5LittleMonkeys
I had to snicker when I read your post because I'm actually going the opposite way. :tongue_smilie: I've decided that all of our writing instruction and practice is going to come from writing about history, science and literature. We wrote across the curriculum before but we were also doing an hour or more of writing class in which our topics were completely unrelated to anything we were learning about. This was causing the writing in our content subjects to be hurried and unfocused. We will still have a specific amount of time that we focus on the writing but the content of our writing will all come from our other studies. There is no better way to really think about, analyze and remember what your are learning than to write about it. Having said that, I think you need to do what you feel will most benefit your dc. :001_smile:
