5LittleMonkeys
This is what I'm looking for: Something for my 4th grader but that my 1st can tag along with. Can be completed in a year if we only do science 2 or 3 days a week. Comes with or is tied to kits that I can purchase. Some of the experiments need to be simple enough that a 4th grader could, if needed, set them up and follow through with the instructions on their own. If it works off of a spine I'd like the spine to be meaty enough that if I don't make it to the library one week we won't be left feeling like we are missing something. Something that is complete up through middle school. (I don't want to get started and then end up having to wait around a whole year for the next book.) Scheduled but flexible. Secular, secular, secular. Okay, I think those are my biggies. What have you got for me?
Crimson Wife
Except for the kits, I'd say Mr. Q. Which is on sale for 50% off at the moment :D
5LittleMonkeys
Okay, taking a look at Mr. Q. Thanks.

PRTGSw2K
What is CPO?
Halcyon
Here's the book we're using, along with the teacher's book. Here's a google search of all the WTM posts about it. Here's the main website-don't get overwhelmed by the materials list-people here don't use that source--as i understand it, most of the material can be gotten fairly cheaply elsewhere. A wonderful WTM-er coordinates stuff for Life Sciences-links in this thread. Oh, and forgot to mention-you can get the texts as free pdfs if you'd like. There's a link in that thread OP. 5LittleMonkeys
My two older dc tried CPO. The texts were okay but I didn't like the tons of papers I had to print out for the investigations, experiments, extra practice (I can't remember everything they were called). I sold my Life Science books. They were just too...textbooky for me.
Lily_Grace
Maybe Noeo? It's secular, has kits you can purchase with, easy enough for a 4th grader to follow along without help most days, uses living books, and goes up through middle school. The 3rd-6th grade share some books, too, so you don't have to purchase all new each year. It's set up as a 4 day a week program but can be done in 2-3 days. 5LittleMonkeys
I tried NOEO with dd12 3 years ago and it wasn't a good fit, but I'll look into it again as dd8 is a completely different learner. Checking out RS4K too. Thanks! Any more suggestions?
