knit247
I have tried NoS in the past and found it easy to do. I lost a decent amount of weight while on NoS, but quit and am now within 5 lbs. of my all-time high :glare: I'm not sure what to do... South Beach Diet sounds really good to me right now - I need to get control of my sever carb cravings (addiction?), but am scared that I won't make it through the 1st two weeks. I've never made it past the 3rd day... For those who have lost weight on NoS and SBD (and don't mind answering), how much have you lost, and how long did it take you to do so? TIA! Oh - and FWIW I am going to Barbados in two months and would love to have at least lost 15-20 lbs. by then ;)

Oh - and FWIW I am going to Barbados in two months and would love to have at least lost 15-20 lbs. by then ;) I'm on NoS and plan on doing it for the rest of my life, I believe in it that much! I started in May and have last 16 lbs. It's slow to be sure, but the changes in my thinking and in the way I feel physically are huge. Recently, I started using LoseIt, an online site for calorie tracking, to help me learn how to control portion sizes and my goal is to lose the next 15 by July. So while NoS won't get you to Barbados 20lbs lighter, if it worked for you before, I'd encourage you to go back to it so you can enjoy life, Barbados included, knowing you are eating sensibly and building healthy habits for the long term. My 2 cents. :)
momto2Cs
I'm doing South Beach after having done a round of hcg. I tried SB in the past, only to give into cravings within the first couple of days. This time, I have made every effort to stick with it, and it is working well. I am down a total of 21.5 pounds at this point, since Thanksgiving, and that is with ups and downs over XMas and New Year's. SB has been relatively easy because there are so many foods I can eat. It is really helping me control my cravings at this point as well. I find that really following the diet, having snacks and all, helps because I am rarely very hungry. I don't care for SB desserts, so I have 2 small pieces of dark chocolate in the evenings and that satisfies my sweet tooth and I still lose weigh (they are the Dove Dark & Silky small choc squares, which I keep in the freezer). I exercise too, usually half an hour on the treadmill, which I started doing just a month ago.
brett_ashley
I tried South Beach unsuccessfully twice, both times having severe sugar withdrawal symptoms like headaches and vomiting. This time I did South Beach Phase Two for a week before starting Phase One and I did not have any withdrawal symptoms. Hope this helps! knit247
TY all for your thoughts. I think that I am going to have to try SBD one more time. I have to get my cravings under control. I keep saying to myself that I haven't been overweight all that long (I never was until my DDs were born) - but I just turned 42 and all-of-a-sudden realized that the past 10 years is about 1/4 my life  To me, that's a scary thought. So, today is the end of the junk. We have movie night every Fri., & I want my buttery popcorn one last time. If I work hard, I know I can make my goal in 12-13 mos., losing 1.5 lbs./wk.
