hsbeth
We've got a group of 6-8 strong students who've been with our co-op for several years. They will be in 8-9th grade in the fall. This year they are completing the second year of Rainbow Science (life and earth). They also did a year long logic and critical thinking class using some critical thinking co. resources, fallacy detective, and the thinking toolbox. We are pretty set on bringing in an experienced physics teacher to do Hewitt's Conceptual Physics as our science. All students will have completed or be at least concurrently enrolled in Alg. 1. They don't want to do a true HS bio option, having just studied Rainbow's Life. We're looking to fill two other one hour slots. Likely one with lit and one with history/geography. Anyone have experience using any of the following in a co-op setting? Any other gems I should consider? America the Beautiful (Notgrass)- our co-op uses his state history material for 6th graders and has been pleased. This looks to have a small lit component, would this cover both lit and history or should we consider it for history? LLFLotR- We've got a boy heavy class and I think this might peak their interest over some of the other programs. Bob Jones 9th grade Geography materials- our co-op does a world region a year of geography in grades 1-5, this might be a nice wrap-up? Introductory Lit class with Smarr or excellence in literature? Omnibus 1? Thanks for your feedback and/or additional suggestions.
5Wizards
Mapping the World with Art by Ellen McHenry would probably work really well in a co-op setting for Geography.

You could use problems from the AMC 8 exam or the Art of Problem Solving contest prep books.
