Slipper 580
We use MUS for math. I'd like to supplement with something that has a heavy focus on word problems. I know that I've seen workbooks listed that others use to help in this area. Any suggestions? I have an upcoming 2nd and 5th grader - both are slightly above average in math, but I wouldn't consider them a math genius. :) Thanks :)
boscopup 3,456
Singapore's Challenging Word Problems are excellent. You might need to start in an earlier book for the 5th grader to learn the bar model method, but it's a cool method.
MaMa2005 21
We love the Daily Word Problem Books from Evan-Moor. DS tends to do a whole week in a day, but he has gotten really good at word problems and looks at them a "fun" math. :tongue_smilie:
