Kathy in Richmond
Should a student complete Wheelock's (completely cover Latin grammar) before taking this exam? Yes, your student should finish Latin grammar and also have experience in reading sight passages in prose and poetry written by various authors. The best way to see what's expected is to get a copy of the REA study guide for the SAT II Latin. Also take a look at the book of real SAT II tests published by the College board. There's one Latin test in there that will give you a good idea whether or not your student is ready. The Excelability text published by Bolchazy-Carducci isn't written specifically toward the test, but it's good to have on hand since it not only reviews the grammar, but has multiple sight passages for practice. It's a challenging test!
