clarkacademy
My throat was a bit sore lastnight. Now it feels as if it is terribly dry and something is stuck in it. Everytime I swallow it feels like I swallow sharp stuff. I just woke up and my ears are really tender I also have a headache. What is this? What will help? Please don't say doc I have no doc or insurance since the move. On a bright note my wild child is the best kid in the world today.
Myeightkiddies
Sounds similar to the yuck going around here. Some of the children went to the doctor and have ear, sinus, and throat infections. I haven't gone yet and have been fighting it with Vitamin C, tons of fluids, and garlic. I had one really bad day and have been slowly improving. If I do take a turn for the worse, I may go to the doctor early next week.
Jennifer in MI
Same crud going around here. The sore/dry throat lasts a couple days, then the body aches start. Then, we are coughing uncontrollably. Ugh. I have just started but seem to be having an easier time with it than most of my family. I'm taking Wellness Formula and TONS of Vitamins C and D. :grouphug:
Lang Syne Boardie
Oh, no. We all started that way. Strep throat, and a nasty case of it, including ear infections and more. It's totally going around. At our house the vitamin C, apple cider vinegar, and super-garlicky chicken soup didn't touch it. Like myeightkiddies, I thought I could weather it myself even though the kids needed meds, but now I've had a relapse that is much worse than the first round. DH is also on his second round of it. Call your local urgent care and see what they do for non-insurance. Call your local health food store and see what alternative treatments are working for their customers. Just don't let it go a couple of days. :(
clarkacademy
Did you guys need antibiotics? I have some of those when I had to go to ER a few months back. I hurt my mouth and filled the script just in case but never used them. Should I start taking them now you think? I also forgot to mention I am so cold. I never get cold. Soror
We're all phlegmy around here as well but it seems to be going away without getting too bad. Just sore throats and TONS of mucus- I hope it doesn't come back~
Jennifer in MI
We've not needed antibiotics. But, our throats aren't feeling quite like yours either. Ours were sore, but not razor sharp sore. So far, so good. The cough seems to be lingering, but it's not as harsh and often as it was a couple weeks ago. Oh - and for us, it's a very dry hacking cough. It never gets loose. KungFuPanda
We all had some evil upper-respiratory, flu-like, sore throat thing. (I couldn't speak for three days) It was awful and hung on forever. DH, and Ds got better, but mine turned into bronchitis. I ended up on antibiotics to get rid of it. I went to a Minute Clinic type thing. They treat it pretty cheaply. They'll do a strep culture to rule that out. With a throat as sore as yours, I'm not sure I'd ride it out and risk letting it turn into pneumonia because THAT can bean expensive hospital stay.
