raganfamily
My dd is taking Algebra 1 with VideoText. I am learning this again. So here is the problem. 3z-10< z Which side do you put the placeholder on? I have watched her videos and they say it doesn't matter, but it does when you are using greater than and less than. If you bring the 3z to the left the answer is 5 < z if you bring the z to the right than the answer is z< 5 . When you plug in numbers bringing the 3z to the left is the correct way. How do you decide which side to have the placeholder on? How do you explain this, I feel like a step is missing.
Mom22ns
3z - 10 < z 2z<10 z<5 3z-10<z -10<-2z 5>z In the first problem I kept the z's on the left. In the second problem I moved them to the right. Remember there that when you divide by a negative number the sign flips, so you get the same answer either way. jennynd
3z-10< z If you bring the 3z to the left the answer is 5 < z it become -10<-2z u change sign and change the < to > 10> 2z z<
