If you covered post WWII . . .

I'm looking for a DVD or book that covers the impact of WWII on post-war Britain. I was hoping that Ken Burns covered the impact on Britain as he did with America in The War.

 

Any suggestions?

 

It's for a 10th grade girl.

Not as extensive as the Ken Burns documentaries, but 84 Charing Cross Road does a good job of dealing with the topic of postwar rebuilding and rationing. It is based on the book of the same name, which is short enough to read quickly.

There was a documentary on Queen Elizabeth that showed quite a bit about post WWII England and how it affected her wedding and the end of her father's reign and the beginning of hers.

I had found a PBS documentary on Winston Churchill in the library, which mentioned that the British empire was in decline, there was rationing and showed the destruction in south eastern England.

I thought of exactly the same thing. The book is good, but the movie is too. There is a fair amount on food shortages, etc. A good supplement and a nice story.
